Taking Savella

Manage your fibromyalgia with Savella.

If your healthcare provider chooses Savella as your fibromyalgia medication, the next step is learning what to expect once you start taking it. Some patients who experienced overall improvement with Savella also experienced pain reduction as early as one week of taking a stable dose (the same dose every day). Because it may take several weeks to feel the effects of Savella, be sure to continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if you do not experience improvement right away.

Getting started with Savella.

Always take Savella exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Based on your own response to treatment and tolerability, your healthcare provider may increase your dose gradually during the first week. This allows your body to get used to Savella. Take Savella exactly as prescribed. Your healthcare provider may adjust your dose based on your treatment needs or how well you tolerate the medication.

Continuing treatment with Savella.

Communicating with your healthcare provider about your experience with Savella is an important part of your fibromyalgia treatment.

  • Be sure to schedule and keep follow-up visits with your physician during your treatment with Savella.
  • Tell your healthcare provider before starting any new medications, including over-the-counter ones.
  • If, at any point during your treatment, you’re not getting the fibromyalgia relief you need or are experiencing side effects, tell your healthcare provider.
