Getting started with Savella
- You should take Savella by mouth twice daily, with or without food1
- Taking Savella with food may make it more tolerable1
- Your healthcare provider will increase your dose gradually for the first week. This allows your body to get used to Savella and may make it more tolerable1
- Your healthcare provider knows the right amount of Savella for you, so continue to take your medication as directed1
Continuing with Savella
- If you are not getting the fibromyalgia relief that you need, speak to your healthcare provider
- Be sure to schedule and keep follow-up visits with your healthcare provider during treatment with Savella
- If you begin taking any new medications while you are on Savella, be sure to inform your healthcare provider
What you should know if you need to stop taking Savella
- Talk to your healthcare provider before stopping Savella
- If you decide to stop taking Savella after using it for some time, your dose should be tapered gradually and not stopped abruptly1
- As with other drugs in this class, stopping Savella too quickly could result in withdrawal symptoms1
- Savella is not a narcotic medication and does not cause addiction. In addition, studies have shown that Savella has a very low potential for abuse1
