There are many fibromyalgia treatments, but not all are approved by the FDA for fibromyalgia.

There are a number of ways to manage the symptoms of fibromyalgia, including medication and non-medication treatments. But currently, there are only three prescription medications FDA-approved for the management of fibromyalgia. Your physician may prescribe a number of medications to treat your fibromyalgia, but only certain medications have been proven effective for fibromyalgia. Before you take any medication, be sure to consult with your healthcare provider.

Savella is one of three FDA-approved medications for the management of fibromyalgia.

Savella is proven effective for the management of fibromyalgia in adults. Some patients who experienced overall improvement with Savella also experienced pain reduction as early as week one of taking a stable dose (the same dose every day). Because it may take several weeks to feel the effects of Savella, be sure to continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if you do not experience improvement right away.
